The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the opening looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of the same name, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that devotees of the second campaign will love its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the series will have a few surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be among these.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
