Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
